Bass Mountain Boys
Formed in 1978 in Burlington, North Carolina by bassist John Maness, the Bass Mountain Boys worked together for nearly twenty years. The group made a name for themselves with heartfelt and highly skilled renditions of bluegrass and gospel standards alongside original compositions by several longtime members. With 11 full-length albums across various labels, their discography is a treasure trove of bluegrass delights.
CMH is the proud home of their 1989 album 18 Wheels, which features several founding members picking their way through a collection of bluegrass classics and originals. The album captures the group at their peak performance and boasts hi-fidelity production capturing all the warmth and clarity of their voices and strings.
The group were longtime residents of Burlington, North Carolina and bluegrass music festivals at the local Bass Mountain Music Park. Having disbanded in 1996, the group reunited briefly in 2008 and continues to perform on special occasions today.
