The Masters
It’s no misnomer, these four really are the masters. Josh Graves, Eddie Adcock, Jesse McReynolds and Kenny Baker. Four of the best this music has to offer.
Each astounding musician here began his career in the golden age of bluegrass and separately came to define the wave that followed in the 70s and 80s. Between the four of them their credentials include bluegrass and country legends Mac Wiseman, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe and Don Gibson as well as several ensembles and recordings of their own and regular appearances on the Grand Ole Opry.
Gathered together for two special sessions for CMH, The Masters offered two collections of original bluegrass material, 1989’s self-titled instrumental album and 1990’s Saturday Night Fish Fry. Each release offers an array of material that alternately spotlights the progressive impulses of Eddie Adcock, the more traditional stylings of Jesse McReynolds and Josh Graves, and the country background of Kenny Baker, surprising a listener at every turn.
If you’re looking for unique takes on the genre by a group of musicians with the experience to back it up, look no further, The Masters deliver.
